Elderly Benefit Specialists provide free advocacy and assistance to Wisconsin residents age 60 or older. They assist Wisconsin residents with issues related to public and private benefits to which they are entitled due to age, disability, or financial factors. Elderly Benefit Specialists provide information and assistance on a broad range of public benefit programs including Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security retirement, Supplemental Security Income, FoodShare and SeniorCare. They provide information on program eligibility criteria, assistance applying for benefits, and appealing benefit denials or incorrect benefit amounts. Elderly Benefit Specialist’s also offer representation to people age 60 or over in the areas of consumer debt, landlord/tenant law, and private insurance.
Elderly Benefit Specialists receive in-depth, on-going legal training. CWAG attorneys provide supervision and support to Elderly Benefit Specialists and work closely with them to ensure high-quality advocacy and representation of clients in the program.
Elderly Benefit Specialists are located in offices throughout the state including local county aging units and aging and disability resource centers. The services they provide are mandated by state and federal law.
